I turned twenty this month. It was nice.

19 years...

and 20!

The difference is just staggering. Don't you think?
I just realized I am wearing the same jacket in those pictures... Yep. Just staggering.

It was also the birthday of my dear siblings, Joseph, John, and Judy.

It was ALSO Fathers' Day.

I'm pretty sure this is one of my favorite pictures of my parents. Ever.

Last Thursday

I took a trip down to Salt Lake for one of my best friends' wedding.

Okay as I was finishing that sentence I realized that it was grammatically incorrect somewhere. Let me rephrase.

Last Thursday I took a trip down to Salt Lake to attend the wedding of one of my best friends.

That's a little better.



It was so great. They were so happy. She looked so beautiful. Life is just wonderful.

Today

in class, I dehorned a cow. I felt terrible. Those cows were not happy.
Oh well.

Anyway. (I use that word a lot in my posts... I also start many of them off with the title "Today", and then continue from there. I guess there are just certain methods I prefer??) Today I saw that ModCloth is having a sale.

I like ModCloth...

and I like sales...

I really just like the name of this top. "White Here, White Now". hehe. (much better if you take the 'r' out of 'Here' also)

Today we had to check some cows to see if they were pregnant. I stuck my arm in some of them.

It was pretty gross, but it was also kind of satisfying. Is that weird?
Never mind, I know it's weird.

Anyway. I feel like this was a big step for me. I've felt around the inside of a cow. It was warm and squishy.

Now, if you'll excuse me I am going to go wash my hands again in a desperate attempt to rid them of the stench.

For the Children

Aren't these so neat? When I was younger I used to take a book and go sit in my mom's car to read all by myself. I would have loved to have a special place like this!

Happenings

Vanessa and I worked the Idaho Falls farmers' market on Saturday, and I took a few pictures of our booth. We don't really have any fresh produce yet, so for now we're selling dried fruit and nuts from California. It's a little awkward sometimes when people ask us what these products have to do with BYU-Idaho.

"...Well... we package them at the school...? But we'll be bringing in our own produce soon! Really!"

Anyway, it's still delicious, and it's fun.

Aaaaand today in FHE we finger-painted. We partnered up and painted each other, then put all the paintings together and made a "family" portrait. Aren't we a handsome bunch?

There is a game I've seen to be prevalent in social activities among the student wards here at BYUI called "Pass the Orange". I'm not sure how popular it is in other places, I'm sure there are lots of variations.
Anyway, I do not like this game at all.

The object of the game is to successfully pass an orange down a row of people by sticking the orange between your chin and neck. The next person grabs the orange with their chin/neck and it travels down the line the same way. You aren't allowed to use your hands.

I don't understand why people think this game is appropriate! Thank you, but I do not want a guy's face that close to my chest. Really.

What do you all think? Have you heard of this game? Do you think it's inappropriate or is it just a fun silly game I'm making a big deal out of?

Ugh. All I know is I left the ward FHE early tonight. :(

Employment

I got a job working for the school's farmers' market! I'm really excited.
...but also nervous, because guess what. I have to get a permit to drive the big twelve passenger vans.

Good thing I am such an excellent driver!
Oh... wait...

I also need a permit to drive one of these babies, but they look like way more fun than a huge boxy van. Don't you think?

Also. I'm taking a swimming class this semester, and during the break I was talking with my brother about how great it would be if there were some attractive men in the class and lamenting how we doubted there would be many men period, let alone those of the aesthetically pleasing sort.
Guess what. There are several. It's great.

Achilles

I have a fish. I named him Achilles. But I think he is going to die.
Is this a Riggs curse or something? I don't get it.

He came from a friend who kept him in a martini glass through fall and winter semester. I don't know if he was sick but if he was he lived through it for a long time. Why is he sick now?? I gave him a bowl and a plant. His life was supposed to get better.

He has been pretty slow for the past few days, but today he has been darting around his bowl all the time. His fins keep flaring up, he's tried to jump out of his bowl a few times, and there is a swollen lump under his gills.

Maybe I will take him into my Animal Health class to see if Dr. Waddoups can fix him. hehe.

Seriously though. Lame.



Also. Today in my Animal Health class (my life has gotten a lot more weird since I became an Animal Science major) we did some fertility testing in bulls. I didn't actually work with the bull at all, I did paperwork half the time, and the other half I dyed semen on a slide and counted sperm under a microscope. It was fun I guess. It was more fun watching the bulls though.

Poor things.
